The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) started its regional rotational sitting in Kigali yesterday 6th March, 2017. The assembly was openned by H.E Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda as it started a two week session in Kigali. This is the third assembly's last sitting in Kigali as its term ends in June when a new assembly [the Fourth Assembly] is expected to be ushered in.

Among the delegates present was, Hon. Kirunda Kiveijinja, the Minister of East African Affairs, who later paid a courtesy visit to the Uganda High Commission in Kigali. He was received by Ms. Anne Katusiime the Deputy Head of Mission and another officer, Ms. Juliet Kiggundu. He appreciated the standards displayed by the High Commission. In his remarks, he highlighted three core principles expected of government representatives in missions abroad,

  1. They are mandated to think for the organisation and devise ways of improving the missions.
  2. Anticipate problems and find ways of mitigating them
  3. Assist or mentor juniors.
